Did you know you can set up Face ID to recognize more than one person? This is useful if you want a family member to be able to unlock your phone.
How to Add an Alternate Appearance
- Open Settings on your iPhone
- Tap Face ID & Passcode
- Enter your passcode
- Tap "Set Up an Alternate Appearance"
- Have the second person position their face in the frame
- Follow the on-screen instructions
Important Notes
- You can only add one alternate appearance
- Anyone with Face ID access can unlock your phone, see your messages, and make purchases
- Only add people you completely trust
Other Uses for Alternate Appearance
This feature is also useful if your appearance changes significantly—for example, if you grow a beard, start wearing glasses, or wear different makeup.
